Opportunities

Opportunities (Nampula): In early  2014 we had a conversation with the local government, who is responsible for issuing land, about our desire to build a new school for high school and university students. They were very excited. There is a huge opportunity in Nampula because there isn’t currently a university.  All necessary papers for starting a university were ready in 2013. Based on demand, the idea was to start with 3 departments: Business Studies, Computer Sciences and Economics. Soon after Mrs. Marciana Serno Sablay passed away, the process came to a standstill.

Many parents have pleaded with us to continue to create a university. Government officials as well are excited. Due to recent rent increases, we want to buy our own land and build our own school. We would combine the university building with the high school building to save costs.  This plan will help save money and sustain us in the future.

Opportunities (Nacala): In 2014 we were granted a piece of land to build a new school in Nacala. This land is leased from directly from the state because land ownership does not exist in Mozambique. This land of 1.3 hectares is in the middle of a residential area nearby the newly opened international airport. However, if the school is not built within 2 years from the date of purchase (lease) the rights of the land, the lease will revert to the government. At this time, there are a few houses being build and there is water and electricity present in the direct area.

Now is the chance to build a school with all the necessary facilities to provide the local population with quality education. The land and the will are there. We are now seeking funds (donations) to build the school. Because of the size of the piece of land we can build a school here from kindergarten through high school with boarding facilities and extensive sports facilities. The entire region will be able to benefit from this school in Nacala. And when the new port and international airport open the international demand for English education will only increase.

Opportunities (Quelimane): he city of Quelimane is growing very quickly. The government is building a separate and new city to complement the current city. We have a good relationship with the mayor and the local central bank director is a parent of one of our students. These relationships have helped us get an option on a piece of land of 3 hectares, next to the new central bank. Within a year the land will be ready for construction and the legal process of obtaining the land will start.

One of the benefits of the school in Quelimane is that it is the most centrally located place, exactly in the center of the country. So extensive boarding facilities belong to the possibilities here. Also our school principal here is the youngest and most modern headmaster of all our schools. Besides that her husband is a contractor and has build many beautiful buildings in Quelimane.

Opportunities (Beira): This school is relatively stable. Rents are fairly stable. However, there is the desire to buy a school bus and invest in the overall quality.
